here's a random idea, not sure if it's been suggested already but i've not seen it anywhere,
when a user awards a specific other user some points, wouldn't it perhaps be a good idea for only that particular user to see it instead of the entire load of logged on users?

I agree. There's no reason that information needs to be made public. Hopefully nobody puts too much stock in points anyway, but I'm ure there will be the odd intense person.

I agree that should at least be an option. Maybe a combo box where you can choose to either send the message publicly, or just to that one person.

I don't really care about public broadcasting of someone's generosity, but I do wish that if you have publics off and get points from someone you get notified somehow: private message, email, something so you can thank the point sender.

problem with that is unless the person getting the points is premium there's the tax that becomes involved.
that's why you buy premium
not everyone can do so, and telling someone to buy premium just to get points? a little bit far
